Its another warm sunny day and we are all gearing up for the big match, come on England

Saturday, June 26, 2010

As I write this Ghana have taken the lead against USA.
We had a walk up to Sawrey Stores for some new potatoes and had a juicy peach each as we walked home.

Wilfin Beck was dry but lo and behold we have water, we have had no rain so man has intervened further upstream!!!

What a nail biting match against the mighty nation of Slovenia yesterday, and now its all OK again, we are going to win the world cup after all and Fabio is not useless he is a master tactician, bring on the Germans.
Oh and by the way the raised beds are looking good.

The marrow plant is looking healthy

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Still dry and warm and this picture of Wilfin Beck shows how dry it is.
A big day on the football front tomorrow with a win essential, fingers crossed!!!

Buckle Yeat garden is looking great.
Yet another dry sunny day.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Cool and breezy this morning but this afternoon the sun broke through and the temperature increased,we had a great BBQ meal tonight with a couple of pork chops from Hutchinson's of Grange and some pork and chive sausages from Sawrey Stores which were excellent.
These pictures are from a walk we had down to Esthwaite Water tonight.

Another English football match and another inquest, the press seem to blame the manager, the same manager who was the best thing since sliced bread just over a week ago.
Bring on Slovenia for another try, keep the faith,------but if thoughts of winning the competition are still in any ones mind,I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Come on England, since last Saturday the confidence is rising, Spain, France and Italy have all struggled in their first game.

Another classic quote by Gary Lineker as he asked his guests on the BBC panel to comment on how France relived themselves under pressure, I can think of a number of answers but best not!!

Any thoughts on the new look for the blog?

Monday, June 14, 2010

Miss Potter the movie was on the tv again yesterday, that must be at least 10 times in 4 years.
We had a walk up to Moss Eccles before tea and the rhododendrons at the edge of the tarn are coming back into flower after being cut back by the National Trust a couple of years ago.

A busy bumble bee on the foxgloves.

Another couple of positive reviews on tripadvisor, thank you whoever you are.

A good walk through the woods this afternoon and the sun has been shining most of the day.

Its half time in the football and the goalie has made a right mess, Kevin Keegan came out with a classic, talking about Robert Green the goalkeeper he said "he has Green on his back and he is green" well done Kev just as well you are not the England boss any more.

Friday, June 11, 2010

A sunny day after a few cloudy ones, we have been busy hanging wallpaper this afternoon and are well on course to finish soon.
This cat from next door was making and audacious attempt to catch a swallow, no chance!

Foxgloves need very little soil as this picture shows.

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Not as bad a day as the weather forecast promised and things are looking promising for the weekend.

We came across Mrs Tiggywinkle this afternoon, he she or it was quite confident and not stressed at all, in fact quite keen on posing for Helen to take its picture.

Monday, June 07, 2010

I spent the afternoon stripping in mum-in-laws bedroom, before anyone gets the wrong idea, she is on holiday and wallpaper was being stripped.

Anthony at the Tower Bank Arms is getting in the World Cup spirit, and the picture says it all, all three urinals are sporting these interesting accessories

Sunday, June 06, 2010

Steady rain from 3pm onwards so I am cheating a bit with some pictures from yesterday.
We are going out for a meal to the TBA later.

Going by the Sunday papers Liverpool will have about1 8 manager's next season

Friday, June 04, 2010

Another sunny day and we did manage a walk up to Moss Eccles tonight as the temperature dropped a bit.

On Wednesday the village must have been busy because Mr McGregor broke all records, there was £27.50 + 2 Euros in his plant pot
