Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

We closed the tea rooms this afternoon at about 2:30pm because Gillian and some of the ladies in the village were serving teas at High Greengate to raise money for the Braithwaite Hall.
