Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

It was a wild night and this morning it was a wet and windy Sawrey, we gave up on the idea of a walk and went to Kendal for some supplies, the sun came out and we had made the wrong decision, ah well you can't win every time. On the road through Graythwaite and onto Newby Bridge there are hundreds of pheasants which are being "prepared" for the forthcoming shoots.
The River Leven flowing through the former dolly blue works now a hotel and leisure center
