Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Another sunny day and still lots of Potter Pilgrims about, the crowds should subside now that the Spring Bank holiday draws to a close. Judy and mum Dorothy arrived yesterday for their annual holiday, Dorothy celebrated her 90th birthday recently.
We had a walk along to Far Sawrey via the footpath by Wilfin Beck and then up Cuckoo Brow lane before returning to the village.
