Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

09/12/09
Another dry cool day, the forecast is for it to be cold and dry for the weekend, we still have a couple of rooms available.
We decided to get in the car and head off to the Grasmere area for a walk.
We parked just outside Rydal and walked along Loughrigg terrace before dropping down the the edge of Grasmere and then back along through White Moss wood.
