Near Sawrey

Sunday, October 31, 2010

Last day at Hill Top today, its now closed till next spring.
Halloween tonight and we have had 2 visits from trick or treaters already, hopefully no more as all the chocs have gone so we will have to take the pain of the trick, although I did get soaked by the first lot even though we coughed up the goodies.
These pictures were from yesterday,.

The good news is the lap top has recovered but the bad news is the desk top is showing worrying symptoms.
A late night last night, the sat nav curse struck again with one couple ending up in Coniston lost, and then an accident on the M6 meant one room did not arrive till 1.30 am
Anyway the clocks go back an hour tonight so I can catch up up on the zzzzs.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Its an awful wet miserable afternoon, lots of wet Potter fans trailing up the road to Hill Top, its the half term holidays so lots of kids about.
This morning I managed to clean the garden wall off at Buckle Yeat and also took down the hanging baskets before the rain arrived.

Yesterday we did manage a walk up to Moss Eccles and the colours are stunning.

I think the theory is the higher you go the nearer the birds you are

Sunday, October 24, 2010

We  both had colds and sniffles last week and now the lap top has got a virus!!! Dr Will has taken it in for treatment.
After a cold night we had a ground frost this morning.
These pictures were taken this morning as I headed to Buckle Yeat.

Still dry but very cold with a sharp frost this morning, the begonias on the wall at Buckle Yeat took a bit of a battering in the cold snap.
We had a walk late this afternoon down to Esthwaite Water, just to late for good pictures as the sun had just dipped behind the hills.

Monday, October 18, 2010

Another grim weekend for the once mighty reds ie LFC the only way is up, hopefully!!!
The weather forecast lady has just said to expect snow on the high ground in Scotland and the North of England brrrrr!!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

We had a good long walk down to Cunsey this afternoon and it was great to get a bit of fresh air.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

It has been a bit less sunny these last few days, if that makes sense.
We had a couple this week who had to return home mid-way through their holiday with us because the lady tripped on a deep step in Ambleside and ended up in A&E in Kendal with a fractured collar bone ouch!!
All that means is we still have a room available this weekend, book early to avoid disappointment

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Just settling down to watch England play football against Montenegro, how soon we forget the World Cup debacle.
Anyway after another sunny day, it was really misty this morning and although it never reached the high temperatures of the last few days it has been yet another fantastic autumn day.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

What a fantastic weekend it just gets better. We had a good walk yesterday through the woods to Far Sawrey and back.

Thursday, October 07, 2010

It has been a fantastic sunny day, long may it continue, I even managed to cut the grass at Buckle Yeat this afternoon.
I took these pictures on my way up to work this morning, the mist was just lifting off the lake.

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

A mixture of sunshine and showers today and the weather is looking very good for later in the week.

Monday, October 04, 2010

Well done Europe in the Ryder Cup, a fantastic finish to a great tournament.
Denis & Margaret jet off to Spain for a well earned break tomorrow and I took these first 2 pictures on the promenade at Grange over Sands when I took them to the railway station this afternoon.

We had a quick walk up to the tarns this evening and the light was going but when we got back down into the village is was bathed in sunshine.

The weather man said this weekend would be awful, we had a cancellation of two rooms partly on the back of the forecast, and guess what Saturday has been a lovely day!!! Having rooms available meant we have been grounded waiting for arrivals and guess what, there was none!! Never mind that's the way it goes.
