We have rain this morning for the first time in ages, so I am cheating a bit and putting yesterdays pictures on.

We have a couple in who have brought along a friend, this version a certain famous lady who used to live in the village.

We have had a really busy weekend and the weather has been fantastic.
Just have a look at the facebook page for news on another famous name.

Spring has sprung and the sun just keeps on shining.

Another stunning day, its spring but in Cumbria today it was more like summer, these first two pictures are early morning from our bedroom window, not a bad view!!!
It was off to Kendal for a haircut and some essential shopping including a trip to the garden center for some potting compost and tomato seeds,I have got a few seed trays planted up making ready for a hopefully productive growing season.
The 3rd picture was taken as I waited for the ferry back across Windermere, this commuting is hard work.

Another fantastic sunny spring day!! this evening we headed up the old favorite walk to Moss Eccles Tarn, stunning as usual.

Lots of scaffolding adorning Castle Cottage the former residence of one Miss Beatrix Potter or we should say by that time Mrs Heelis.

Mr McGregor has been out  sat on the bench for the last couple of days raising money for the Sawrey Children's playground and he has been quite profitable for the time of year.

We have been unable to get out for a walk the last couple of days so hence no new pictures, but here are few from the archive

Saturday, March 19, 2011

We had a frosty morning yesterday and  I took these pictures on the way to work.
The sun continued to shine all day and I had a bit of a boon day in the garden at home.

This afternoon we had a walk up to Moss Eccles before watching England get trounced by the Irish in the rugby.
These sheep are enjoying their dinner with views of Esthwaite Water

This is Far Sawrey with St Peters church at the far right of the shot, it was taken this evening from Stoney Lane in Near Sawrey

St Patricks day today and it has been dry and calm  weather wise, we had a walk down the dub and through to Cunsey, these first two pictures are of Cunsey Beck and Cunsey bridge, we then called in at the Sawrey Stores for a paper before heading up Cuckoo Brow lane before dropping back down into the village, the third picture is Wilfin Beck.

We have just got back from a couple of days in St Albans visiting Matthew and Sarah, we went "up" to London for the day and saw all the main attractions from a great vantage point, eye will give you clue from where!!

This is a more recent image of Buckle Yeat, in oils and by a regular guest of ours Sheila Harvey, we have a number of her paintings on display in the dining room and all are for sale, in fact in the last 12 months I have posted 2 to New Zealand

We have been busy this week, one bedroom repainted and new carpet fitted, new flat screen tv installed, then we repainted the lounge yesterday.
Its been an awful wet and cold day, we have an unusual quiet weekend on the visitor front, I think the weather forecast may have a lot to do with that.
I have been tweaking this blog, just because I can, I think it looks good.

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

Heavy rain overnight which fell as snow on the tops.
I took these pictures of St Peters church on the way back from a trip to the ferry with a Japanese guest en-route to Windermere

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

I put the hanging baskets out on Monday and then we had a sharp frost,  great, no damage done though.
Its been a cold and gloomy day with the sun threatening to get out but just failing.
The BBC weather  girl said  today" it will rain overnight and be followed by showers, you may not notice the change though" hmm sounds bad then.
Hmmmm pancakes are ready!!

Sunday, March 06, 2011

A bit of good news in the village the local shop has re-opened, good luck to the new occupants its a tough call.
You may notice the lack of football chatter on the blog of late for obvious reasons, but today, well a 3-1 win against  Man Utd must be worth a mention.

This first picture is the hanging baskets and planters ready to go out when the weather warms up a little bit.

The next 2 pictures are of a carpet of snowdrops at the top of the "swilling shop"
