This is a gift a guest left for Helen, don't worry she let me share them.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A classic Lakes day on the weather front 4 seasons in one day. We even have the spectre of the volcanish ash looming over Scotland and the North East
People keep telling us how much they are desperate for some rain at home but then complain when it rains here, I do understand nobody wants rain on holiday.

We are having a wild wet spell of weather, its the Brathay Marathon this morning and the Sawrey May Queen procession this afternoon so lets hope the sun shines. Looking back at last year it was baking hot
We had our latest ever room enquiry last night just before mid-night a gentleman rang and woke us up asking if we had vacancies for the night!!! needless to say I was very polite.

A garden boon day today with strimmer hedgecutter and lawnmower in action, Helen has been busy making bread.
Good news on the Olympic front the Olympic torch will be passing close by in fact it will be staying overnight in Bowness on Windermere, I would like to think it will be passing through the village and crossing the ferry but very much doubt it.
