Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Today it is so gloomy and dark we have the outside lights in the afternoon.
These picture were taken the other day on a walk we had, we parked in Coniston village and then walked a part of the Cumbrian Way before branching off up to Tarn Hows, round the tarn and then back down the road into Coniston.

The 1st weekend in December Hawkshead is the place to be for the festivities, why not combine it with a 2 night stay at Buckle Yeat @ £70 per room per night B&B
Moss Eccles looks like it is covered in some kind of scum but it is thousands of pine needles which have drifted to one end of the tarn

The autumn colours are looking good in the late season sunshine, I took the top picture this morning and the other two were taken by Joyce who stayed last week.
The movie Miss Potter was on again at the weekend and last night Celebrity Antiques Road Trip featured a visit to Hill Top, this must be the reason there is an awful lot of disappointed Potter fans turning up to find the house closed.
