Raining again I'm afraid so pictures are hard to come by. All the New Year gang arrived yesterday and are looking forward to this evenings festivities.
The high winds mid-week brought a couple of trees down on the Hawkshead road one of them was a big one.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

After last years white Christmas this year the colour is grey!! its hardly light during the day.
We did manage a walk up to High Dam on Boxing day which was very nice except the world and his wife + dog had the same idea.
Matthew and Sarah have been with us this year for Christmas but had an horrendous drive back south yesterday afternoon/evening/night, lots of heavy slow moving traffic.

A couple of pictures Helen took yesterday on our way to Kendal, the weather is not pleasant but at least we are not having the snow and frost of last year. There is a lot of snow on the higher ground above Coniston and Ambleside.
Helen and her mum have been busy making lots and lots of mince pies today and I got on with digging in some manure in the garden whilst Denis was on soup duty and made a very tasty leek and potato soup for lunch mmmmmmmmmmm.
