At last a dry day and so we decided to make a break for it and leave the decorating and make the most of the day, we parked at Tilberthwaite and walked through to Elterwater and back past Colwith Force and Hodge Close quarry

Good old Simon the local BT man he sorted out the chaos caused by the man and digger on Friday, most phones and Internet is back to normal

A big problem this weekend in Sawrey, someone cut through a big telephone cable and took out all the telephones in Near Sawrey,the engineers have been working hard and some of us are back on.

   There will be a Quiz Night at the Braithwaite Hall on Saturday 25th February 7.30 pm. Organised by Alan Hilton. Entrance £5 Adults and £2 under 16, to include Pie and Peas supper. Bring yer own booze or go thirsty. As much a social get together as a serious quiz, GRAND raffle and a chance to catch up on the gossip.

Heavy rain overnight but the day is said to improve and it looks like it will.
These two pictures were taken by Peter a guy who stayed a few days this week, the first is between Near and Far Sawrey and the second is on Kirkstone Pass.
If the weather behaves we should be able to get a walk this afternoon.



At the end of January the Hawkshead Newsagent and Post Office shut up shop without warning which was a shock to the local residents. The good news is the Post Office has re-opened all be it on restricted hours and the newsagents will be open in due course

After the snow has gone it is good to see the snowdrops have survived

At last the snow is starting to thaw, we had a walk up to Moss Eccles yesterday and it was as cold and murky as it looks in these pictures.

Hill Top and the Beatrix Potter Gallery re-open today for the season, apparently the Gallery has gone all 21st century with touchscreens and interactive media, Beatrix would have been a tweeter I'm sure.



The blog is back!!

It is horrible weather we have had snow for a week and it shows no sign of going anywhere soon, me and Helen spent most of yesterday clearing the car park with a little help from Anthony next door and Bill the boiler repair man. The bad weather has also meant we have had a couple of cancellations
