We have had a really busy spell with refurbishments at Buckle Yeat, we have totally revamped the single bathroom replacing the bath with a big walk in shower and re-tiled it all in white, just the lights and flooring to do.All the bedroom doors have new locks fitted at the behest of the fire officer.
The temperatures have drooped dramatically, not rising above zero all day brrrr!!!
It is the Hawkshead Christmas fair this weekend and all being well we should be able to walk down tomorrow for a look around.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

We took this picture of a camera shy swan on Windermere the other day.
A touch of frost in parts this morning but thats better than all the rain of late.
A full turnout this morning then closed for a couple of weeks with the plumber, builder and joiner all booked in from tomorrow. We are upgrading the single bathroom to a swish walk in shower room and we need to change bedroom door locks to keep the fire officer happy, so busy busy.

Back to wet weather I'm afraid after a fantastic few days, we managed to strip the garden back yesterday and get some bulbs in we just need a dry day to do the rest and get the hanging baskets down, they have lasted well but the sharp frost over the last couple of nights has finished them off.
We took these pictures on Sunday afternoon.
