Near Sawrey

Saturday, December 17, 2005

It was a good night at the Tower Bank Arms last night, no luck on the domino front I got knocked out by Patricia and her husband Alan beat Matthew in the final of the darts.
Over £300 was raised for the Braithwaite Hall in Far Sawrey, a large part of that was an auction for a nights stay in Masham and a trip round the Theakston brewery, a prize donated by the brewery via Phillip and Dorothy. The Auctioneer was Jimmy from Esthwaite How who also sold three strings of onions and ended up without a voice.

A tense domino match between Matthew and his uncle Tony, advice is being given by a couple of old pro's. Matthew was victorious on this occasion but was defeated by our neighbour Elizabeth.

I had to go into Kendal this morning and Helen spent the day making mince pies and cakes ready for the festive season.
We had an early visit from a dubious looking character dressed in red.

Hi, it was good to see that Santa had been sampling a few, well, quite a few by the looks of him, of Helen's mince-pies and cakes before he set off on his rounds. He certainly wouldn'tget down our chimney andI'm not sure theroof wouldhold him either. But where was his helper? The good Fairy?

Best wishes, keep blogging.
