We have had a lot of rain over the last couple of days so that explains the lack of pictures, I hate taking pictures in gloomy weather.
The clocks went forward overnight and everyone at Buckle Yeat remembered so there was no late comers at breakfast.
This morning the village is very quiet, maybe the change in the clocks has slowed up the Potter hunters a little, it is a bit brighter on the weather front though and as I type the sun is trying to break through.
Liverpool have a big game against local rivals Everton this afternoon, so hopefully they can bounce back from last weeks debacle against Man Utd.

Thursday so no teas, shopping is the job of the day. It has been a dry spring like day although the forecast is bad for tomorrow.
I had a word with my computer guru today, my idea is a Buckle Yeat garden live web cam, watch this space.

A busy village today but damp and cold so no pictures I am afriad, Matthew and Sarah got home safe yesterday.
We have just watched England lose at footy to France, a bit of a damp squib, 1-0 to the French.
Thirteen in for breakfast in the morning,skates on!

Another cold day this Easter Monday, Matthew and Sarah took the camera for a walk again today and they had a good long walk around the South end of Windermere.

There was a 2 hour power cut overnight, or should I say power outage, thats the new terminology!!! thankfully the power was back on before breakfast.
We awoke to a dusting of snow and freezing temperatures.



Elvis fan visits Beatrix Potter, today Hill Top, tomorrow Gracelands.

A few shots of the snow this morning, we had guests arrive from the Manchester area and they had much more snow than we had.

Another cold windy day with frequent snow showers, the village was a little bit busier today but as yet nothing like last year.
No check-outs at Buckle Yeat this morning.
Matthew and Sarah went for a walk up to Moss Eccles so they took the camera and I think Sarah took all these photos.

Good Friday, and we have had all 4 seasons in one day, sun, rain, hail and wind.
Matthew and Sarah arrived late last night to stay for the weekend, they have headed to Ambleside this afternoon.
The village has been quiet today,it often is that way on Good Friday,Hill Top is normally closed on Fridays
Easter guests have started to arrive, we have guests in from South Africa, Germany and Japan this weekend.

Yet another sunny day in Sawrey.
The Jemima egg hunt started today and if you click on the link at the right of this page you can find the map of where the eggs are hidden, one is in Near Sawrey surprise surprise.
We had quick walk up to Moss Eccles tonight and took these pictures.



We discovered a new gate replacing the stile over to the tarn.




Three shots of Moss Eccles and just as the shutter clicked on the camera with the last shot a massive trout leapt, honest! it's not a fishermans tale.

The other day we sent a picture off the blog to the BBC and it was featured on the Look North weather forecast last night, it was on the blog on Sunday and was of the blossom in Sawrey.

Cold and sunny again, snow forecast for Easter, looking back on previous years on the blog March 2006 we had a lot of snow and last March it was bitterly cold with the threat of snow. This year with Easter so early those brave campers better bring their thermals.

A really nice sunny morning and I took this first picture this morning on my way to work, if you sit in a commuter trafic jam on your way to work please accept my apologies, or should that be condolences.










Some guests who left after the weekend rang this morning, they had left a phone charger and needed it back so we parceled it up and I nipped down to Hawkshead to post it back. I took these pictures around St Michael's and All Angels church in the village, William Wordsworth would have attended this church because he went to the grammar school next door, now open to visitors.

A dry sunny day today, quiet in the tearooms again but I think it is the calm before the storm.
We finished early and managed a good walk up to Moss Eccles.

Just Just as we got to Moss Eccles we met a couple who have a house in Hawkshead, the spooky thing is we have never met them locally but have met them on a couple of occasion's whilst walking in Spain.

After a really nice spring type day yesterday we woke up to a cold drizzly damp day.
Hill Top opened up for the first day of the season and we also opened the tearooms for the first time today.It was nice and steady on the customer front, not to busy and so it gave us a chance to get match fit.





Denis has been busy making up the spring hanging baskets and this morning I got out the steps and helped him hang them up, of course getting them to hang the right way round was not easy, he is a stickler when it comes to hanging baskets, although I have to say they brighten up the front of Buckle Yeat a treat.

Helen has been busy baking all day and I have been busy with garden tables, menus, signs etc. Tomorrow is opening day for Hill Top so we will be back in action with teas.

Off to Kendal this morning, we got to the ferry to find it out of action due to high winds, the sign at the top of ferry hill and the one at Hawkshead look they are the victims of vandalism so we did not find out till we got to the landing, we went south round by Newby Bridge, the new High Newton bypass is getting near completion. We had quite a lot of goods to buy this week we are getting ready for the weekend when the tea rooms open for the season.

A great night last night with Liverpool beating the top team in Italy, Inter Milan, tonight it is neighbours Everton doing well against another Italian outfit Fiorentina, extra time and penalties are on the cards.

This morning it was very windy but no damage to report overnight, later on the wind died down and we set off on a walk, very cold but dry.

We had former Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd in the village yesterday, he and his wife were looking to visit Beatrix Potters Hill Top but it will not be open till next week.
I have some nice pictures of a good long walk we had over the weekend but there seems to be a problem with posting pictures so maybe tomorrow.
There is some awful stormy weather about but up here in Sawrey it has been a pretty decent day.

Picture problem sorted, we walked up to Moss Eccles past Wyes Een over the top onto the shores of Windermere back along to the road and up ferry Hill and back into the village.

A busy breakfast as always on a Saturday then just as we planned a walk the heavens opened. So we watched a bit of FA cup football, Man Utd and Chelsea both knocked out by inferior teams, gutted! Meanwhile Liverpool score another 3 goals, 1 will do on Tuesday night.







Between showers I had a walk around the village via the TBA and took a couple of pictures including one of Anthony from the Tower in his newish toy.

Not a great day for pictures today but just in the nick of time these two landed in my inbox, they were taken at the weekend by Derek & Marjorie, it was their 2nd visit to Buckle Yeat,last time was Marjorie's birthday and this time their wedding anniversary.
