Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A cracking sunny day,a cold breeze but at long last dry all day.
The wind was coming from the east, hence the chill factor, what it did mean though was the tea garden was sheltered from the wind and was a sun trap for the visitors to enjoy their cream teas, still no ferry and so it is very sedate in the village.
We had a good long walk tonight down the dub and through to Cunsey before tracking back past St Peters and through to Near Sawrey.
