Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. The rain continued this morning until lunchtime and then the day improved.
We managed a good walk tonight down the dub and then through the woods to the church and back along the foot path to the village.
The footpaths are as muddy and wet as you would expect in winter and the farmers are chasing to get some of the grass in before the rain returns.
Back home we watched the boxing and saw Amir Khan win the Commonwealth lightweight belt.
