Off across the ferry to Kendal this afternoon for an opticians appointment
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

It was so dark this morning when I set off to Buckle Yeat, sat on our doorstep was a hedgehog, when I came out of the door the security light came on and startled the poor little creature, it decided to take refuge under our car and that was fine except in the next 5 minutes Helen would be following me in the car, I had to gently fish or should I say roll out the hedgehog and take him or her (not an expert on the sex of hedgehogs)down the garden to safety.
