Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A misty start gave way to another good day made even better by learning that the sunset picture of Esthwaite Water on the blog a couple of days ago has been featured on BBC North West this lunchtime. They ask for weather pictures to show when they are doing the forecast, I sent it in on Monday and I received an email from the weather presenter Heather Stott today but by the time I checked the emails the program had finished, but I have it from a reliable source that it was on.
