Another sunny day and still lots of Potter Pilgrims about, the crowds should subside now that the Spring Bank holiday draws to a close.
Judy and mum Dorothy arrived yesterday for their annual holiday, Dorothy celebrated her 90th birthday recently.
We had a walk along to Far Sawrey via the footpath by Wilfin Beck and then up Cuckoo Brow lane before returning to the village.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A garden day today,Helen was busy with the guesthouse so I helped Denis, we replaced the soil in the wall tops at Buckle Yeat and then I had an hour at home planting some bedding plants.
In between times a bathroom fan needed replacing so we got one from the electricians in Hawkshead and swapped it.
We had a walk up to up to Moss Eccles and just caught sight of a hot air balloon which eventually headed over towards the Rusland valley. We also spotted a black rabbit in the field at the top of Coopers Lane, pictures of both were impossible to get.
Next Sunday the 8th June there is a sports day and bbq on Tarn Hill playground starting at 2pm everyone is welcome, there will be a raffle, treasure hunt and fun for all the family.

It's a bit of milestone today, this is the 1000th post I have done on this blog in almost 3 years, it started as a bit of fun but has developed into a quite good marketing tool with new guests booking through it and existing guests keeping up to date with Sawrey when they return home.
Hill Top has been crazy busy these last two days, selling out of tickets early afternoon both days.
The above pictures are all taken down by Esthwaite Water.

Another dry sunny day we seem to getting the best of the Bank Holiday weather.
Matthew rang from Mexico, he and Sarah have been snorkeling in the Pacific and will be moving on to Acapulco tomorrow, its a tough old life.
We had a barbecue after work and timed it just right, the sun was just dropping as we finished eating.
I make no apologies for setting off up to Moss Eccles for our walk again tonight, when it is on your doorstep why not!!

There was a mini drama in Post office meadow yesterday which I forgot to recount, a duck with 6 or 7 ducklings, which I guess wandered to far away from Wilfin Beck, they were going round and round the field in a bit of a panic, things were made worse by the lambs in the field, they were inquisitive and kept following the ducks around and doing what lambs do ie. jumping and gamboling. After a while they seemed to disappear and hopefully found their way back to the beck.
Buckle Yeat back garden, lots more plants are about to flower.
We had a walk to the fish farm on Esthwaite Water.

Derek and Vicky arrived this morning in time for breakfast and the foursome who took the pictures the other day checked out.
It has been a cool dry day and pretty quiet in the tearooms.
Matthew and Sarah have set off to Mexico this afternoon for a two week holiday, they have a long 10 hour flight and will not land till midnight our time but I think that means 6pm with them.
A full house again tonight with some later arrivals,an American family who hope to be here before 8pm. They have been booked since November last year. They arrived at 10pm

The fantastic weather carries on with no sign of any change, the village was unusally quiet today and then we realised why, the ferry has been out of action all day whilst the cables across the lake are replaced.
A regular Buckle Yeat foursome have taken the camera with them today so I will sort ou their pictures and post some tomorrow.
Dave, one of the New Year gang called in passing this afternoon to say hello, he was out for a drive in the sunshine.

Sunshine in Sawrey yet again, this weather is fantastic.
I was giving the hanging baskets a quick watering this morning when Bev, a blue badge guide we know, stopped and introduced me to the American authoress Linda Lear who recently wrote the adult biography of Beatrix Potter which won various literary awards, there is a link to Linda Lears web page on right of this page.
A walk through the bluebell woods this evening and the bluebells seem to have taken a battering in thr thunder storm the other day.

More sunshine today although the air feels a lot fresher after the violent thunder storm of yesterday afternoon.
We had a threesome check in today all the way from Tanzania East Africa, a first for Buckle Yeat I think.
We lit the BBQ tonight and enjoyed our tea sat outside. We then strode up to the tarns and back down to the village.
