Ted and Margaret, a couple of the New Year gang checked out today, they had a mixed few days on the weather front, they added a couple of days to their stay after Christmas and another couple of regulars have just rung and added a day to their Christmas break so it is filling in nicely.
Today has been fantastic and at last the camera behaved and I managed to get some decent pictures.
A bit of a poser with Esthwaite Water in the background.
Wise Een Tarn
Another Esthwaite Water shot.
Not sure on the name of this tarn it is just beyond Wise Een.
Hawkshead Village.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

We had a cold frosty start yesterday with snow on the hills, not such a busy weekend but a few rooms in.
We had a good walk up to the tarns and the view was spectacular with the snow capped hills and the reflections in Moss Eccles, it was picture perfect and I took some fantastic pictures, but!! when I got back home and tried to upload them, nothing! so my description will have to suffice.
While I remember a big thank-you to all the people who e-mailed and rang to check we at Buckle Yeat were OK during the horrendous flooding last week, we had no problems although a couple of properties were damaged in the village and the roads were blocked for a couple of days.

At last a bit of sunshine.
One or two visitors still turning up looking for Hill Top but it is now closed for the winter.
We have two lots of guests to arrive today and so we have been finishing off the decorating in room 5 it has taken a bit longer than planned because we had to wait for the plaster to dry, anyway all done now and looking good, with new bed linen, curtains and swish flat screen TV.

It was cool dry, and calm as I walked to work this morning, I took these 3 pictures of the early morning mist on Esthwaite Water and was thinking that the Hawkshead bonfire organisers were going to lucky with the weather, but now it is pouring down and showing no signs of stopping, they will be lighting the bonfire at 6.30 and the firework display shortly after.
Sorry I have taken these shots before but I never tire of this view as I commute to work

A soggy Sawrey this morning, this afternoon the authorities were here with the drain cleaning machine but the flood has not receded tonight
It has been wet and windy since Sunday with some torrential showers, lots of leaves in the drains so floods everywhere, the Newby Bridge to Windermere was closed for a while.
We have been busy in room 5 giving it a bit of a makeover, the builders were here yesterday plastering a wall and we have been busy hanging new wall paper today and putting up a bracket for the new flat screen tv, Helen made some new curtains yesterday and we have new bed linen and lampshades ready to go.
We are up to 3 followers today, there must be more!! the latest is Andrew who many years ago lived next door to us at Garth Cottage with his parents George and Evelyn.
