Last day at Hill Top today, its now closed till next spring.
Halloween tonight and we have had 2 visits from trick or treaters already, hopefully no more as all the chocs have gone so we will have to take the pain of the trick, although I did get soaked by the first lot even though we coughed up the goodies.
These pictures were from yesterday,.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

The good news is the lap top has recovered but the bad news is the desk top is showing worrying symptoms.
A late night last night, the sat nav curse struck again with one couple ending up in Coniston lost, and then an accident on the M6 meant one room did not arrive till 1.30 am
Anyway the clocks go back an hour tonight so I can catch up up on the zzzzs.

Its an awful wet miserable afternoon, lots of wet Potter fans trailing up the road to Hill Top, its the half term holidays so lots of kids about.
This morning I managed to clean the garden wall off at Buckle Yeat and also took down the hanging baskets before the rain arrived.
Yesterday we did manage a walk up to Moss Eccles and the colours are stunning.

It has been a bit less sunny these last few days, if that makes sense.
We had a couple this week who had to return home mid-way through their holiday with us because the lady tripped on a deep step in Ambleside and ended up in A&E in Kendal with a fractured collar bone ouch!!
All that means is we still have a room available this weekend, book early to avoid disappointment

Just settling down to watch England play football against Montenegro, how soon we forget the World Cup debacle.
Anyway after another sunny day, it was really misty this morning and although it never reached the high temperatures of the last few days it has been yet another fantastic autumn day.

Well done Europe in the Ryder Cup, a fantastic finish to a great tournament.
Denis & Margaret jet off to Spain for a well earned break tomorrow and I took these first 2 pictures on the promenade at Grange over Sands when I took them to the railway station this afternoon.
We had a quick walk up to the tarns this evening and the light was going but when we got back down into the village is was bathed in sunshine.
