Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A fantastic sunny day yesterday and likewise today, it was hard enough trying to take pictures of the lumbering Vulcan bomber on Saturday but yesterday with the Red Arrows speeding across the sky it was an altogether different challenge, we only have a little pocket camera so I was just pointing and shooting and hoping for the best, I ended up with a few shots of sky only but did get some decent shots, lots more on the facebook page.

What started with trimming the clematis in the back garden sort of grew into a major clear out, we had so much rubbish I had to borrow a trailer to move it. It lets loads more light in and opens up more ground for planting, and Denis is salivating at which plants to put in.
Windermere Air Festival this weekend so hopefully clear skies and we can get up onto Scale Ivy to watch some of the displays.

Terrible spell of weather at the moment, rain and wind, the only saving factor is it seems to be all over the country.
An eventful weekend with a guest ending up in Lancaster Hospital and his wife stranded there unable to drive back so Saturday night I was a hospital taxi service and drove to Lancaster to pick her up.
An international theme this week with guests from India, Japan and a family from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean.
