The wind and rain did not deter the hardy Marrow men, there was a good turnout and I believe Chris won the heaviest marrow class with a whopping 108 lb monster
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

How can 2 days be so different wild and wet today and fantastic yesterday, we had a walk up to Moss Eccles to see it half empty so work can be carried out on the dam.
This morning we have had two power cuts which makes things difficult getting ready for new guest arrivals, thankfully the power is back on at the moment.
Its the Sawrey Marrow show today and one gazebo has just taken flight from the front of the pub!!!
Marrow pics tomorrow.

Well the weather is doing well at the moment dry with sunny periods, lots better the than forecast, again!!
By the time I write this this brightly coloured convenience will be installed at Moss Eccles Tarn but don't worry its only temporary while work is being carried out on the dam wall, it is being provided for the guys working up there but it makes me think how outdoor workers ie farmers, forestry worker and the like manage without such a luxury!!

What a superb day and we decided to play at being tourists so we set off to the ferry via the new bench which was in full use, we jumped on the ferry and sailed across in the sunshine, Lake Garda pah!!!
We had a quick stop off at the Marina for refreshments and back across the lake and hiked up the hill home.
