A bit cooler this morning but dry at the moment a full house tonight and its a busy half term, Mr McGregor is out on the bench for the last few days before Hill Top closes on Sunday and the village reverts back to winter tranquility.
Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

We had a Japanese film crew in the village at breakfast time making a documentary about who else but Beatrix Potter.
When I sneakily took this picture the camera flashed and the guy in the headphones whoa if looks could kill.
This the star of the program, I think her name is Keiko maybe our Japanese readers recognise her of course she was a bit star struck and insisted on her her picture taken with me.

A busy boon day in the garden yesterday cutting back shrubs and trees, we now have the biggest pile of rubbish to get rid of, in fact 3 piles of rubbish!! Hopefully a mate is coming round later with a tractor and trailer, he should be able to park on Hill Top car park as it quietens down and then we can throw all the branches over the wall onto the trailer.
The front garden still looking remarkably colourful

A number of years ago the Beatrix Potter Society published an illustrated map of the village for members only, they have now decided to make them available to anyone, they are in paperback format A4 size and contain a pictorial map of the properties in Near Sawrey with a short history of each property. We have a number available and they are priced £5 each + £1 postage and packing (overseas postage will vary). there is a limited number as it is no longer in print, just get in touch if anyone would like one.
