We are back in action after a day or two R&R, it has been a nice sunny day and whilst Helen has been busy baking lots of cakes Matthew and I set to with the lawnmower and strimmer, we had a good morning tidying up in the garden at home and Buckle Yeat, while we where away Denis & Margaret have been busy weeding all the flower beds and planting foxgloves and lupins for next year.

The ambulance went through towards Far Sawrey this afternoon with sirens wailing, as yet no word to its destination

I think Matthew has sorted out a place to live in Leicester and will be making arrangements to move the last week of the month before he starts his new job on the 30th July.

Went a walk today up to the Tarns. It was really sunny, in fact as I write this my neck feels a bit burnt! There were stunning views over to the Langdale Pikes. We had an email from a new blog watcher the other day. Someone who used to live in the village and emigrated to Australia a number of years ago. G'day to you and watch this space and you might see some familiar faces!

Not much blog action at the moment - I apologise. Only had one email complaining so far! Finally a nice day to enjoy. A couple of friends from University are in the Lakes for a while and i'm guessing this will be their first totally dry day. Just watching Murray (not Andy, his brother Jamie) in the doubles semi final. Doubles is much more interesting than singles! Good to see Liverpool got rid of the surplus strikers, in fact almost broke even for them! There will be some more photos on the blog soon, not much fun going out in the rain to take them!

Here are a couple more photos from guests, Liz and John. Not seen weather like that for a few weeks! tried to watch a bit of Wimbledon today but every time it got interesting - the rain came. Lightening was the cause of one stoppage! It has been dry but blustery in Lancaster as usual. I've been house hunting online for most of the day, I think i'm getting somewhere.

1st of July and we had torrential downpours in the early hours, so much that it woke us up and I had to jump in the car and go and check all was well at Buckle Yeat, we have had flooding problems in the past so you can never rest when you hear it raining like it was.
As it turned out everything was OK, the yard at the back was like a swimming pool but it was a long way from flooding in the house and the drains at the front were running clear.
It is Matthews last day at Summittreks today and he will then have to start to find a place to live in the Leicester area before he starts his new job at Severn Trent Water.

Its another significant date today, England goes smoke free, great, we have been totally non smoking at Buckle Yeat for a number of years and the Tower Bank has been non smoking since March 2006,so when we rarely go out anywhere else the smoky atmosphere irks just that little bit more.
