At last a thaw, the snow and ice has gone and you can actually keep your feet on the car park.
Still decorating today so no walks and no photos, we will try to get out mid week.
It was mum-in-law Margarets birthday yesterday so we took her and Denis out for lunch to the Tower Bank Arms.

Busy busy busy today, stripping wallpaper in another of the bedrooms, we plan to paper it on Monday, also today Helen and her mum did most of the festive decorations and we put up the outside tree and I rigged up the lights.

Sister-in-Law Margaret sent us this great recipe for a christmas cake which I would like to share with everyone.

You'll need the following
1 Cup of water
1 Cup of sugar
4 large brown eggs
2 cups of dried fruit
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
Nuts
1 bottle of whiskey

Sample the whiskey to check for quality. Take a large bowl. Check the whiskey again. To be sure its the highest quality, pour one level cup a drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar and beat again. Make sure the whiskey is still OK. Cry another tup. Tune up the mixer. Beat two leggs and add the bowl and chuck in the fried druit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it goose with a drewscriver. Sample the whiskey to check tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, Or something, Who cares? Check the whiskey. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon the sugar or somfin. Whatever you can find. Greese the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the whiskey again and go to bed!!!!!!!!!!

As forecast the snow arrived overnight, quite a lot of snow and it settled on icy roads so driving was a bit on dodgy side.
The boiler service man had to cancel due to the weather and has rescheduled for the New Year.
As the morning went on the roads conditions eased slightly and as we had to go to Kendal we braved it via Newby Bridge, between Kendal and Newby Bridge there was little or no snow but by the time we reached Kendal we ran back into the bad conditions.

A cool customer this morning on the bench at the Tower Bank Arms.

It does not get any warmer and we have heavy snow forecast overnight.

This morning me and Helen (I know it should be Helen and I but I always think it sounds so wrong) went to buy the Christmas tree for outside Buckle Yeat, on the way we "collected" some rock salt to try and convert the ice rink at Buckle Yeat back into a car park.

We have had a productive day on the decorating front and finished papering the downstairs room.
