We had a visit from Dorothy this morning, her and her sister-in-law Irene are going to a wedding in Hawkshead so they called in for coffee.



The fire engine came wailing into the village with blue lights flashing, it promptly turned around and went back again, a false alarm at Hill Top, I guess Beatrix has burnt the toast again.

We had a funny incident the other morning at breakfast, regulars Derek and Vicky have a newspaper every morning and leave their 50p for the paper on their table after breakfast to pay for it, 3 American ladies noticed this money and thought it was the done thing to leave some change for the waiter and left some coins on their table. I left it till next morning and explained to them although it was very kind of them to leave me a tip,the change was for the paper.

It would have been Beatrix Potters birthday today and the staff at Hill Top have this morning planted the brand new rose called "Beatrix Potter" in Hill Top garden, the rose was sponsored by the Beatrix Potter Society to celebrate the society's 30th birthday






This one of our regular guests Vicky who is on the Beatrix Potter Society committee and played a big part in the choosing and the organising of the rose.

Just a thought, why would we want to advertise on a site promoting B&B in Ireland?? They are offering us a very good deal though!!!!

Saturday we had rain all afternoon and today has been dry but cloudy, The Windermere Airshow has been affected by the weather the Red Arrows were due this afternoon but they have cancelled.
