Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Yesterday when I picked up the papers at Sawrey Stores there was one very excited young man, Alan who lives by the church, it was his 9th birthday and every Saturday (sweeetie day)he spends part of his pocket money in the shop, so the ladies from shop had made him this very special cake,I would have taken a picture of Alan but he was off quick to take his bike home and for a basket to carry the cake home.
We had a visit from a couple of our New Year gang this afternoon, Betty and David who now live in Grange-over-Sands, they are both well and looking forward to New Year, steady on lets finish with summer first!
Not sure what species of butterfly this is but I do know the plant, it is a Buddleia otherwise known as a butterfly bush.
A final shot of yesterdays marrow show, this is the row of monsters.
