Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

It was a fantastic sunrise this morning and it was dry at first.
The rain arrived before breakfast was over and it has been raining on and off all day.
The village has been busy with families taking advantage of Hill Top's extra opening day.
Sarah along with two more of Matthew's friends, Jen & Frazer are staying for the weekend, they are all booked in at the Tower Bank Arms for a meal tonight. They arrived at Windermere station and Denis & Margaret who were out for the day called round picked them up, well that was the plan but Jen & Frazer's train from Glasgow was late and they were picked up at Oxenholme.
We called in at the Tower Bank for pint before tea and it was buzzing, just one couple yet to arrive, some regulars from Belfast they should be here around 10:30.

Super photographs. Hope you are all well across in Buckle Yeat. Fantastic photo, wish I was their. Milner Familys from Brandesburton in East Yorkshire. Hope to see you soon.
I would just like to say in reference to your comments about the Tower Bank Arms. We are regular visitors to the lakes and we last visited the pub on friday the 10th of November and what a difference. The pub was very sterile, no character, and certainly very quiet, we decided to visit it again on the saturday and found it to be just the same.
This pub has definately lost all its character and warmth of which you would not expect from such a well known and world famous hostelry.
Bring back the locals and as you say make this pub buz again like it used to.
A crying shame.
