Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Mr McGregor had a great day yesterday with donations in his plant pot of over £15, many thanks to all the visitors who have generously popped some change in his pot, the money is going to pay for the upkeep of the childrens playground on Tarn Hill, over the last couple years a group of locals have made a concerted effort to bring the playground back to life, this year so many visitors children have made use of the playground whist they wait to get into Hill Top.
The Tarn Hill Committee are having a Country & Western Evening complete with Hog Roast, details soon.
