Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A sunny morning in Near Sawrey, I called up at the farm to pass on some quiz sheet money to Jayne, the kids were all making the most of their last day off school, it's Louise's birthday today 8 years old going on 21 Happy Birthday Louise.
While I was there I bought a couple of tickets for the forthcoming Country & Western and Hog Roast, it is organised by the Tarn Hill Committee and takes place on the 28th September 7.30 till late, tickets cost £12 each and are available from Jayne at the farm or from Sawrey Stores.
On a sadder a note we are off to a funeral this afternoon, Barbara, from Far Sawrey sadly passed away last week, our thoughts are with her family.
