Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

These pictures were all from yesterday taken by Martin and his wife Chris from the Leeds area, they are frequent visitors to Buckle Yeat and as you can see keen walkers. They set off up Helvellyn via Striding Edge and so I sent them off with my camera.
