The bloggers are back and back to work with a vengeance, a full house and due to a late change of plans just the one room left for tomorrow, it is a grey miserable Friday but very mild.

As I said in a previous post Rolf Harris was due in the village and whilst we were away sure enough he arrived.
They did some filming in the Tower Bank Arms and Hill Top garden, the program " Rolf on Art" is due to be shown around Christmas along with Beatrix Potter ballet which was filmed many years ago.

Rolf bumped into the famous Denis and insisted they had a picture taken together, well that's what Denis told me.

Everybody is checking out this morning after the weekend, it has not been the brightest on the weather front hence the lack of pictures, I hate taking pictures on dreary days.

A great night for the English football team last night and they didn't even play, and then poor Scotland put up a great fight and yet they are out, sometimes things are just not fair.

The blog will be in hibernation for a few days.

We have full house due in today and the first arrivals got here at lunchtime, the others have not got far to come so hopefully everyone will be here before dark.

A little bit of gossip, Rolf Harris the TV superstar! is due in the village next week. Apparently they are filming an edition of "Rolf on Art" and the word is he will be filmed in the Tower Bank Arms.

We awoke to a frosty foggy morning, we set off to Kendal, first stop haircuts all round and then into Ambleside to pay a visit to the dentist, our dentist is retiring in spring and actually made the TV news today with regards to a replacement NHS practice or I should say lack of one.

Again the morning started a bit dull but then the sun came out and it was a brilliant sunny day.
We decided to go for a good long walk and first stop was Moss Eccles.

We met John on the way down, he was out for his constitutional, John is now retired.
When our son Matthew was still at school his first Saturday job was with John in the Hawkshead Post Office, John worked there for many many years,his brother Steven aka Fred lives in Perth, Australia and according to John he always keeps tabs on the blog, so Fred here is a picture of your big brother, and I must say he is looking well in his retirement.

A wet damp start to Tuesday but the day improved and the sun shone.
We are quiet at Buckle Yeat till the weekend so we caught up with a few jobs and then went for a walk.
We parked up and set off up to the trig point 3635 which is on the summit of Gummers How above Winderemere.

REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY

A complete turn out this morning and so when we eventually got finished we decided to get some fresh air and set off on a walk down the dub through the woods and out by the church, we met Graham from Fold Farm training a new sheepdog.

Near Sawrey today on a fantastic sunny November afternoon.

I had a bit of a tweak with the blog this afternoon and changed a few colours and added one or two features.
More to come hopefully. Comments are very welcome.

We had a damp start to Saturday but it did dry up and me and Helen set to planting up a couple of new tubs we bought on our trip to Bilsborrow earlier in the week.

Job done.

We went up to Moss Eccles this afternoon and came across the local hunt "exercising"

Another sunny day in the lakes we had a quick walk up to High Dam near Finsthwaite quiet a lot of people had the same idea.





We had a nice card from Brian, Joyce and Benjy the dog,they told us how much the had enjoyed their stay at Buckle Yeat and were very pleased to have featured on the blog.

There was a bit of action in the area the other night, some characters tried to break in to a garage on the A590 using a 4x4 they had stolen earlier, they were followed up the Hawkshead road where they were confronted by a police car, they turned round and rammed the police car with the 4x4 one man was arrested and the helicopter was out all Wednesday night looking for the other man. Two policemen were slightly injured.

It was a wild night and this morning it was a wet and windy Sawrey, we gave up on the idea of a walk and went to Kendal for some supplies, the sun came out and we had made the wrong decision, ah well you can't win every time.

On the road through Graythwaite and onto Newby Bridge there are hundreds of pheasants which are being "prepared" for the forthcoming shoots.

We had an enquiry from New Zealand along with pictures of where the people live and although we have never been to that part of the world and to be honest never thought of ever going to New Zealand seeing the pictures of which this one make me think wow that looks stunning.

At last the lap top situation is resolved, at a cost but there is no such thing as a free lunch.
The fantastic weather continues and winter seems an age away.
We went for a swim this morning and then a walk this afternoon.
Moss Eccles is still drained down and no sign of any work on the dam.

A misty morning and what looks like should be a dry day, rain is expected tomorrow.
A big clear out from Buckle Yeat this morning, Brian Joyce and Benjy left for their long drive home to the south coast, they kindly left us a gift of a bottle of Malt Whisky, medicinal purposes only of course, thank you very much to them both.They have been with us for two weeks and have been very lucky with the weather.
