Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

What a fantastic autumn day, we needed a wiper blade for the car so we drove to Coniston, parked in the village and walked to Torver via a footpath that in some parts followed the disused railway line, we picked up the wiper blade from Hadwins garage and then walked back to the village along the shores of Coniston Water, the views where stunning so lots of pictures, it is records week so there was a few speed boats buzzing up and down, lots of people watching with some serious looking cameras.
More info on the right.
