Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Quite a good day today, in fact Mr McGregor has his first day out on the bench, at least until the late afternoon hail shower arrived.
We had a late late no show tonight, a photographer who was working for the Sun newspaper and was booked to be going out on a boat in the morning with sonar equipment to gather evidence of the fabled monster of the deep aka Bownessie, the expedition was cancelled late tonight, perhaps Bownessie has Max Clifford as an agent and has outpriced him/herself out of the market.

At last a bit better day no rain but no sunshine, it did try to get out but failed miserably. Never mind after we had finished all the decorating and the incoming guests had arrived we headed up to the tarns.
One little moan from me though, on the way down hanging on a wire fence was a little bag containing what I assume was dog muck not a great subject but what if everybody had this great idea, clean up after their beloved dog and then hang it on a fence to stay for god knows how many months/years.
What a great tactic!!!!

Its been another dreary damp day today, lots of visitors taking advantage of the Hill Top early opening.
We have been busy on the decorating front with me pasting and Helen papering, we have finished one room and just need to move all the furniture back in tomorrow, set up the new TV and that is it.
We ordered some new carpet for another room and we will be getting some new bedding as well. Its all go!!!!

What a shock this morning when I pulled back the curtains, the snow had returned, a miserable damp wet and cold day followed. We had a cancellation but I guess the weather did not help us re-let it so one room down this weekend. Busy tomorrow with a room refurb, wallpaper, paint, new flat screen tv etc.

Its been a dry day today, I would like to say its settled but the weekend is not looking good. We have a new online booking system on the blog and the web site and we have a room available this weekend due to late cancellation.
Watching football on the box tonight Liverpool are in Prague no score at half time but not the best game I have seen.

Yesterday was a Kendal shopping day and a misty ferry crossing.
This morning we awoke to a stunning day and the sun shone all day long, we had a walk this afternoon up to Moss Eccles. Hill Top opens on Saturday and the season is underway again, we have guests arriving tomorrow.

The blog is back! I will be getting the camera all charged up and snapping in the next day or two.
We have had a good rest and a couple of weeks in the sun, today here though it is pretty miserable and has rained all night, at the moment it is gloomy grey and wet.
Its boiler service day today and the the engineer is due to fix the dishwasher so we will be ready for action at the weekend.
