Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Hi, it was good to see Mr. McGregor looking so hale and hearty, but we were wondering what he was doing with his hands? We are short of water down here but have not resorted to such emergency measures for watering bedding plants. Love to all Mark and CaroleX(Drought hit London)
