Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Saturday Marrow Update Picture
We have a room available over the New Year holiday. Its a 3 night break 30th 31st Dec and 1st Jan and the total rate is £285 B&B for two people, ring 07703654219 to book. When its gone its gone.
Wow~It looks perfect to me...any bigger and the taste quality goes down. Do you do anything to help it grow? I heard some folks make a little slice in the stem vine and feed it milk; don't know if this is true or an old wives tale:) On the other hand it could have another growth spurt, like my brother who was 6 foot then grew another 2 inches after age 20. Course 20 years for a squash/marrow is a bit much...
