Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Just a quick post to thank all the thoughtful people who have been in touch these last few days following the devastating flooding the Lake District suffered a couple of weekends ago. We in Sawrey and at Buckle Yeat have been largely unaffected, considering the damage done in the near vicinity we count ourselves very lucky. Although the effects of the flooding sometimes need to be seen to be believed the people and business owners in the area are keen to insist the the Lake District is open for business. Once again many thanks for all the messages of goodwill it really is appreciated by us all.
