Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

After a clear blue sky this morning, at about 12.30 we had a blizzard for a couple of hours then we had to get the car park clear before it freezes tonight.
Phil and Dorothy got away about 1.30 and if they had left it any longer they would have been snowed in. They promised to call in and see us later on in the year when the tea-rooms are open, they will be most welcome any time.
I met the new people at the Tower and they are hoping to be open for drinks only tomorrow night.
It is a case of which pictures to include tonight because there is so many.
If you need to check out the ferry just click on the link in the side bar and then click on "Ferry Web Cam" on the FBA web page, it is a great live shot of the ferry landing.
We managed to let our free room to a South African couple, who rang afternoon.
