Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

We had a visit from Trevor the coalman this morning and he posed with Mr McGregor at front of Buckle Yeat, not to sure about Trev's head gear.
It has been a great day on the weather front and now the kids are back to school a totally different type of people are about, lots of couples and lots of walkers, no families.
We had a walk tonight through Bishop and Castle wood, the evening got better and better.
We had a cancellation for tonight but we let the room through the new Visitor Imformation Point (VIP) in Hawkshead, it is a replacement for the information centre and is a touch screen console that people can use to find vacancies and points of interest in the area, tonight's booking was the first we have had from it but it proves it works.
