Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

Gales and heavy downpours overnight gave way to a fantastic sunny day.
We had two double rooms and the single free tonight but this morning two gentlemen rang and booked a double and a single for the one night. A regular couple from the Northeast have just drove into the car park so that means we can shoot off for walk in this brilliant sunshine.
It is Vickys birthday today (a special one)so there was presents and cards all round, two lots of flowers have arrived whilst they have been out, a popular girl.

Dear Robert and Helen,
I hope this finds you well. Please give my best birthday wishes to Vicky! She was so wonderful to send me postcards from the Beatrix Potter conference this summer. I am afraid I have not been as good of a pen pal to her. I am glad to know now when her birthday is! Check out my blog to see what I have been up to lately...never a dull moment!
Sincerely, Kathy Hawkins
