Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

A message from Mark & Carole this morning, I know if I mention the name Peter Crouch it hits a nerve with Mark, it was good to hear from them, this is their usual week to be in Near Sawrey. We look forward to seeing them before to long.
After we got finished we had a quick walk up Coopers Lane and round the Tarn, the weather was spring like.
On returning to Buckle Yeat we found a letter on the doormat, some classic car club from Morecambe are having an illumination rally, I know is sounds absurd but apparently grown men drive around the Lake District in the middle of the night. The letter was to forewarn us the noise, what they mean is they are going to wake us up at 3.30am.If we want to get up and watch they will supply a list of competitors, that's good of them. Whatever rings your bell.
Roast pork for tea with all the trimmings, it's in the oven as I write this.
