We had a very stormy night with thunder and lightning all night.
This morning as I walked up the village a Border TV car pulled up and asked the way to Cunsey and then fire engine went through the village, it transpired that there had been a house fire in Cunsey in the early hours.
Snow on the tops, no wonder it feels cold.

A cold but dry day yesterday, we went a walk in the afternoon, today it's a case of everybody out as all the guests check out, I gave the New Zealand lady a lift to the ferry.
We had a productive morning, all the Christmas decorations are down and put away till next year.
Helen was busy spring cleaning bedrooms and I managed to get a couple of bedroom ceilings painted.
It was a brighter day so this afternoon we had a walk for a bit of fresh air.

The first snow of the year. arrived overnight but it was not expected, not exactly a snowstorm but we had a decent covering and the roads were bad early on.
We have guests in from America, New Zealand and the UK.
Buckle Yeat before breakfast this morning.
I had to go to the ferry and pick up the lady from New Zealand this afternoon and whilst I was there Amy, who used to live in the village shouted out, she told me she watches the blog every day or two so she can be reminded of home, she lives down south now and was on her way back with the kids Dan & Holly after a few days back in Cumbria,
Hi Amy hope you got home safe.

Happy New year to all and thanks for all the messages via the blog.
We had a great night last night at Buckle Yeat with a brief visit up to the TBA.
This is a shot sent from Japan with a New Year message,I am sure it is a picture of Esthwaite Water in the summer.
Tarn Hill playground, you can see why it is called Tarn Hill.
These pictures where taken by some of the New Year gang, yesterday they braved the elements and went up Catbells, pictured is left to right Vanessa, Pete and Lynn and the photographer is Dave.
We had a lunchtime drink in the TBA and met Guy, Jane and their family who have bought a house in the village and knew all about us due to following the blog.
Neighbours Peter and Moira invited us along with Peter, Lynn, Dave and Vanessa down to Garth Cottage for New Year drink.
