Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey.
The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village.
Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

The majority of the New Year people left this morning, Dave and Vanessa have stayed an extra night to meet up with some friends. It has turned a lot colder and when the new guests arrived we took a walk up to Moss Eccles, the lane up to the tarn is badly damaged by the rain.
