Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

The European influence continues with a Norweigian couple staying last night.
We have had a boon day in the garden today both at Buckle Yeat and at home, we planted up the troughs that will screen the oil tank at home and wondered why we have not done it before.
In between guests arriving we had a walk down to Esthwaite Water and never saw a soul, I tell a lie, one solitary angler.
The last guests are on the way and struggling with traffic so I am using the lap top we have for guests use to write this rubbish.
