Buckle Yeat is situated in the village of Near Sawrey. The name Buckle Yeat is over 300 years old and it means fasten the gate.In years gone by the gate referred to would be the gate to the village. Near Sawrey was once home to the children's writer Beatrix Potter about whom the movie Miss Potter is all about. Hill Top Farm where she wrote many of her stories is a museum and is open to the public.

The fantastic summer like weather continues in the wonderful Lake District, it has been a busy Easter week in the village with many Potter fans turning up to visit Hill Top.
The car parking issue has been ok until the last couple of days, the police put cones out overnight to curb the cars parking at one end of the village only for the cars to start parking at the other end of the village, it is like a herd mentality, one car dares to park in a dodgy place and then that it is it, the rest of the herd follows suit, it will quieten down for a few weeks now as the ferry will be out of action due to maintenance work.
We have had a busy shopping day, Kendal for the essentials then on to Grange over Sands for some plants to fill our new planters recently installed to screen the oil tank at home, we will be planting them up tomorrow.
